When Google Will update PR?

If you were to look at Google’s history of how frequently they update PageRank in the past two years, you would note that they tend to update every three months or so. Times have changed and it would appear that Google has decided to space out the next update, which could be due to the recent Panda and Penguin updates. Webmasters originally predicted that a new algorithm would emerge around May or June, 2013 at the latest, but it is now close to the end of July and there have been no official announcements of when or if PageRank is going to be updated soon or at all.

Google states that webpages with a higher PageRank are more likely to appear at the top of Google’s search results. However, PageRank alone is not an accurate measure of how well a site is doing or how much traffic it receives. Google keeps the exact algorithm for PageRank and how Panda and Penguin operate secret to ensure that the system cannot be manipulated. These efforts are initially done to reduce spam and place higher quality pages at the top of search engine results pages.

PageRank is not the only factor that determines whether you have a quality website or not. It’s important to focus on all aspects of your site to bring in traffic and gain a dedicated following of readers. PageRank can go down if Google decides to penalize your site or if you aren’t receiving as many quality backlinks as you were at the time of the last update.

Building quality backlinks should be one of the main goals of all webmasters. This simply means getting sites with a high PageRank to link to your website. However, it’s important to maintain a careful balance between how many incoming and outgoing links you have. If you have a few sites that link to you, but you have links to hundreds of other sites, you could receive a lower PageRank than expected.

Google’s PageRank algorithm has evolved drastically since it was originally implemented. It is quite risky to attempt to manipulate PageRank without focusing on the overall quality of your site in an attempt to get more traffic purely due to having a PageRank increase. It pays to dedicate some attention to PageRank, but it should not take precedence over establishing a quality and reputable website.
